Standard chartered Bank: Strategic Client Coverage Group (SCCG) - South Africa

ROLE: Associate – Strategic Client Coverage Group (SCCG)
REPORTS TO: Director/Managing Director SCCG
DEPARTMENT: SCCG
LOCATION: Singapore / Dubai / Beijing / UK / South Africa

SCOPE OF ROLE:
To assist Directors and Managing Directors in the sourcing and executing of transactions.

KEY TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support senior staff on SCCG transaction origination and execution
  • Develop existing ideas and/or provide forward thinking
  • Financial modeling, particularly for DCF and LBO transactions
  • Sector and client research, particularly in terms of market and company comparable analysis
  • Preparation and presentation of information memoranda, pitch books, presentations, prospectuses, fairness opinions (including valuation) and other forms of reports
  • Assist Directors / Associate Directors in structuring transactions
  • Collect, review and analyse financial and other information from multiple market data sources including Bloomberg, Fact set and Thomson Reuters
  • Provide new and innovative of ideas
  • Train and coach analysts vis-à-vis their deliverables
  • Carry out due diligence

KEY RELATIONSHIPS:

  • Lawyers and accountants providing due diligence services
  • SCB corporate bankers and global markets
  • Mandated deal partners

KEY MEASURABLES:

  • Quality, timelines and accuracy of output whilst multi-tasking across multiple deals and working to tight deadlines
  • Comprehensive understanding of the Bank’s product suite
  • Demonstrate industry/market knowledge
  • Internal and external perception – i.e. ability to leverage internal product partner, mandated deal partners, etc.
  • Teamwork / inter-personal / communication skills
  • Thought leadership and initiative
  • Adherence to SCB values

SELECTION CRITERIA:

  • Highly motivated individuals with a strong record of achievement in academics and/or summer/full time employment in corporate finance.
  • Candidates should have a Masters/MBA/CPA degree from a reputable university. Relevant experience in Investment Banking would be a definite advantage.
  • Superior analytical aptitude, creative problem solving abilities and excellent communication skills.
  • Key skills include (i) ability to work with Excel spreadsheets; (ii) familiarity with other key software’s such as Word, Powerpoint, Bloomberg, etc; (iii) generate prospectuses/ information memoranda/ investment teasers/ pitch books; (iv) general industry/ country/ company researches; (v) ability to perform Discounted Cash Flow and other forms of valuation.
